Those crazy Italians, always doing something quite interesting with wine!

It's no secret that one of my favorite white grapes is Chardonnay (the others are Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc), and as I just needed a wine [for the night while I did some reading], I picked up this little gem that had a grape in it that I never heard of before, and probably never had.

Inzolia, or Insolia, is a white grape from Sicily that is dry with great citrus character and nutty flavor, but it's not as dry as Semillon and is a better partner for the Chardonnay than Semillon.

This wine is not too dry; actually just a little dry. It also has a nice citrus character to it, a somewhat woody smell, and a more demure/refined flavor reminiscent of an attractive woman in her late 40s to mid 50s (I am going to start describing wine like women folks). You know that woman that has that matured beauty, but elegance in both her moves and her presentation. The finish is nice, with a gradual falloff of maybe 15 seconds and the weight of it is nice, but not too heavy, with a great feel of satin on your tongue.

We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
